Motorized Recreation Access permits allow access for a range of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bicycling, sightseeing, photography – activities that are not allowed are motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling and target shooting.
The motorized recreation access program requires a permit for each family, with family defined for the purposes of this permit as married spouses and their children under 19 years of age. Every person in a vehicle entering the property must have a permit or be named on their parent’s permit, even if they are not driving. Just 300 permits are available at Eatonville and they sell out quickly. Additional permits are not available.
Access is open from April 1st to March 31st except July 3rd, 4th and 5th and during bull elk seasons. Access is allowed from 1 and 1/2 hours before sunrise to 1 and 1/2 hours after sunset through the recreation gates identified on the map. Seasonal closures are dependant on weather and may apply at different times of the year. See web site home page for closure announcements.
Firewood cutting is allowed from designated areas between April 1st and April 14th and again from October 16th through March 30th. Up to five cords of wood are allowed annually per permit as it is available. Maps for firewood units are on line and at the access gates. Please see Rules & Regulations for detailed information.
Up to two vehicles may be included on a permit. One vehicle windshield tag is included when the permit is purchased. Permit holders may request a second windshield tag for an additional vehicle by mail or by email using the Contact Us tab. See the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) tab for details.
