Good News! Due to the forecasted rain the Eatonville forest will re-open Friday morning August 27th 1 1/2 hours before sunrise. We hope to keep the forest open for the remainder of the year if we receive enough rain. Please continue to be EXTREMELY careful, as it is still very dry.
Motorized Recreation Access permits allow access for a range of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bicycling, sightseeing, photography – activities that are not allowed are motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling and target shooting.
The motorized recreation access program requires a permit for each family, with family defined for the purposes of this permit as married spouses and their children under 19 years of age. Access is allowed from 1 and 1/2 hours before sunrise to 1 and 1/2 hours after sunset through the recreation gates identified on the map. Seasonal closures are dependant on weather and may apply at different times of the year. See web site home page for closure announcements.
Firewood cutting is allowed from designated areas between April 1st and April 14th and again from October 16th through March 30th. Up to five cords of wood are allowed annually per permit as it is available. Maps for firewood units are on line and at the access gates. Please see Rules & Regulations for detailed information.
Up to two vehicles may be included on a permit. One vehicle windshield tag is included when the permit is purchased. Permit holders may request a second windshield tag for an additional vehicle by mail or by email using the Contact Us tab. See the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) tab for details.
